Welcome to the Parish of Upper Wharfedale and Littondale, which those of us who live here can justifiably claim to be the loveliest parish in England. This spectacular setting provides an inspiring backdrop for our spiritual journey, in which church members stand together on the cusp of a new adventure of discipleship in our recently formed Parish.

Vibrant communities live in the villages of the Parish and all have enthusiastic and active worshipping families. We are open and welcoming to all and extend the hospitality of Jesus to people of all faiths and none, whatever their background and identity.

As in so many villages in this part of the world, community life is rich and revolves around the church, school, hall and pub. We have four churches in our parish - St Mary's Kettlewell, St Michael & All Saints Hubberholme, St Oswald's Arncliffe and St Mary's Conistone - and they are all deeply involved in the life of the community.

Our Parish lies in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area recognised for its extraordinary natural beauty, the diversity of its wildlife habitats, its rich cultural heritage and its fantastic opportunities for outdoor recreation.

The Yorkshire Dales are not a wilderness. This is a living, working environment, home to 24,000 people. It includes some of the finest limestone scenery in the UK, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves.

Each valley or ‘dale’ has its own distinct character, and each of our church communities brings its own character to the fore in the way its members express their faith within this remarkable landscape.
