Blackford was one of the nine parishes that made up the Camelot Parishes.  From April 2025, the parishes of Blackford, Compton Pauncefoot and Maperton will be working the parishes of Milborne Port with Goathill and Charlton Horethorne with Stowell to form a new benefice.
