Welcome to St Martin's Church

St Martin's is a friendly, growing, welcoming church with a core congregation of around 70 worshippers in a village of just under 800 people. Good choir, study groups, warm fellowship and lovely social events. We are privileged to be custodians of the burial place of Sir Winston Churchill, and welcome thousands of visitors from around the world every year - the churchyard is always open. We do ask visitors to remember that, although a figure of international stature, Sir Winston's resting place is a private, family grave, and you are asked not to leave memorabilia or flowers.
We have a new children's church and young peoples' worship team - do come and find out more. Our website is full of useful information.
If you are particuarly interested in Sir Winston, then you will want to see our new stained glass window in commemoration of him, unveiled by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in 2015. Lady Soames, Churchill's longest-living child, bequeathed her Garter banner to us, which hangs on the west wall of the church.
The parish of Bladon is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Oxford's safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services
