Martlesham in Suffolk has two churches within its parish. St Mary the Virgin in Church Lane, Martlesham near to Martlesham Creek where it is believed the Romans landed and set up a place of worship. The village developed around the creek but the church has been a centre of worship for hundreds of years.
St Michael & All Angels situated on Martlesham Heath and opened in the early 1990s and is situated at the edge of what was, until 1939, the principal testing airfield for all military and civilian aircraft. The airfield saw action in both world wars and was closed in the 1960's. The site is now split between an industrial estate, including BT Adastral Park, and the residential area where the church is.

St Mary's is usually open from 10am through to 3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for visitors and for private prayer.

St Mary's dates back to The Doomsday Book, but the current building dates from around the 14th century with extensive work done in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It currently holds traditional communion services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 11 am. 

The Church is very popular for weddings, baptisms and funerals due to the very traditional and well kept building and graveyard. In spring the church yard is a profusion of snowdrops and crocuses for visitors to admire.
