We are a local charity that provides quiet reflective spaces in our two open churches and green churchyards with their wildflowers. These are used for christenings, weddings, funerals and burials, as well as parish services and for anyone looking for some peace and quiet. We are present in sad and joyful times. Visitors recognise this in their comments:
“I come every morning to be for 5 minutes” “lovely to enter and think for a while”
“a lovely tranquil place in a busy world”
We are also busy in the community through care homes, the hospital and hospice; visiting those who are housebound, bereaved, lonely or those coming to terms with difficult life circumstances, or struggling with mental health, by providing pastoral care and activities.
We support young people in Harnham Schools, clubs and through pop up youth activities.
Welcome to Harnham Parish. We are a friendly, Church of England community that meets in two different churches in Harnham: St George's, Lower Street and All Saints, Harnham Rd, and in the parish hall. Please visit our main parish website for more details about us and an up to date calendar of events and services www.harnhamparish.org.uk Our monthly services and events lists are also uploaded as news images and on the calendar on this site, under the menu section.
We are part of the Messy Church network; our Messy Church families meet on the second Sunday of the month (except August) at 3pm in the Parish Hall. All ages and types of family format are welcome, a responsible adult needs to stay with children, and are encouraged to take part. Adults are very welcome to come without children.
Our recently renovated hall is open for new bookings. It is regularly used by both community groups and is available for private hire. There is a large, light hall, a smaller meeting room and a large, new kitchen built to professional catering standards. You can hire the meeting room separately from the main hall. Please contact the office for enquiries on 07925 108856 or PCCHarnham@gmail.com
We work alongside the Harnham Community Network who provide the Harnham Harvest Table tackling food poverty in the local area.
We are a supportive group with a range of valued talents. We all care about our faith lived out in the community of Harnham; Living, learning and loving through Christ.
Do come along to a service either on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, or any Sunday and you will be sure of a warm welcome.
