Welcome to our PGS site and thank you for your interest in St John and St Giles Church, Great Easton, a Five Parishes church in Essex. The present structure is early Norman, which replaced a Saxon structure. The large quantity of Roman brick and tiles used in the construction suggests even earlier structures. Extensive 19th and 20th century restorations include the notable reredos and the new tower, renovated in 1928. The church boasts a fine peal of bells, rung regularly by an enthusiastic team, and is popular with visiting ringers. The Covid lockdown highlighted that we are over reliant on fund-raising. The monthly cost of our share of our Priest, insurance, heating, churchyard expenses etc is £1,855 whereas our current 7 regular donors contribute £350 a month. Please help us close this gap. Donating via PGS can give us the benefit of an optional annual cost of living increase
