On 1 January 2024 the Parishes of Feniton and Escot formally combined to make the Parish of Feniton with Escot. The primary church is St Andrew's, in Feniton and the church of St Philip and St James in Escot (Fairmile) is a 'chapel of ease'.
The church of St Andrew, Feniton is located in a rural area in East Devon. Our church building is Grade II* listed and is located in the 'Old' part of Feniton village (alongside Feniton Court). The building was re-ordered following a severe flood in October 2008. The chuch now has a modern servery area, accessible toilet (including baby changing facilities) and modern, mobile, pews which can be rearranged to suit different service formats.
Our regular congregation is of moderate size but we have an active community which includes the 'Angelics' (our dedicated churchyard team), the 'Holy Dusters' (the cleaning team), flower arrangers and bell ringers. We have a close relationship with Feniton C of E Primary School whose pupils visit the church from time to time and we support the Feniton Toddler Group ('Little Wonders') and the Otter Vale Mission Community Youth Worker.
The church of St Philip and St James, Escot was originally built as a chapel for the estate of Escot House, located nearby. The congregation is small and mostly elderly, but are very welcoming and noted for their success in fundraising for the church and a wide range of charities.
Any donation which you are able to make will be carefully used to support the church in Feniton and Escot, either within the building or in our wider community. If you are able to visit us at some point, so much the better.
