'Our Little Gem of Moorland Churches.' Thus was Christ Church described by Archbishop Thompson. The early French Gothic style built in local limestone with beautiful pink classical decorations round the walls and the pulpit. Its tall bell tower with a 90 foot high pyramid spire is a prominent feature in the landscape. Christ Church was built to the design of the celebrated architect J. L. Pearson between 1863-1866.
