St Helen’s Church is very well established as part of the village, offering care and support to everyone in this community. Not only is it a place of worship offering various services but it also has strong links with the local primary school as well as RAF Benson. It hosts community events like the annual service of remembrance and carol concert with the Roke and Benson Brass Band. Various organisations such as the Benson Nature group, Guides, Rainbows and Tai Chi all use the facilities offered. The churchyard is a wonderful place for all to visit providing a space for quiet reflection, particularly now with the wonderful bronze sculpted panels created by the Rev’d Toddy Hoare for all to view. Reduced mowing around parts of the churchyard is revealing that many of our beautiful native wildflowers are still present.

Our parish church has its place in history and dates back to Norman times with our very special clock that gained fame during the Second World War for its unusual characters! Who doesn’t love hearing the bell ringers practise on a Wednesday night, sadly silenced for now due to the current restrictions.

As with many churches up and down the country we have been seeing a decline in income especially now our lives and habits are affected by COVID 19. However, it doesn’t take very much money to make a big difference. It’s the regularity of donations that really can help.
