The church of St Andrew and St Bartholomew lies on the outskirts of the rural village of Ashleworth, alongside the River Severn; an idyllic location for a beautiful and well-maintained historic building. A place of worship has stood on the spot for at least a thousand years, and a visit will demonstrate its ancient heritage and Saxon structure.

St Andrew & St Bartholomew is the home of BIG church - our Benefice Intergenerational Gathering - an all-age worshipping community in the West of Severn benefice. BIG Church provides a less formal kind of service, relevant to 21st Century lifestyles, which helps people understand their beliefs and answers some of those 'big' questions in life. BIG church has given people of all ages the opportunity to explore faith in a variety of styles, with a mix of traditional and new songs, and a short sermon, or Reflection, that provides food for thought over the following week. Children are always made welcome, with activities and stories appropriate to their age. BIG church meets every Sunday at 11:00am, with a communion service usually held on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

With a congregation that loves to sing, we have a marvellous organ, beautifully restored after the 2007 Gloucestershire floods, recognised as one of the best sounding instruments in the region. There is an active team of Bell Ringers in the area, who visit our church regularly to sound the bells for special services. Near the church is the Tithe Barn (a National Trust property) and the opportunity for walks along the River Severn pathway.
